Sri Aurobindo

the great Indian Yogi, Sear & Mystic in 20th century gave Integral Yoga to the world.

Sri Aurobindo Reveals.......

Book Abstract...

What is Integral Yoga?

Sri Aurobindo was a Nationalist, Radical freedom fighter, Writer, Poet who later became a great spiritual Yogi of 20th century. He introduced the Integral Yoga of transformation by rediscovering the ancient Vedic Truth of India, by going beyond the traditional yoga paths and by the descent of Supermind with his Sadhana over forty years.

In Integral Yoga, Sri Aurobindo declared “All Life Is Yoga” and true aim of our terrestrial existence is to realize the “transformation of this world to manifest the divine life upon earth and bring delight into it.”  This creation is evolving and progressing in that direction, and everybody is doing yoga knowingly or un-knowingly. However, if one becomes conscious and works on this goal, yoga can be accelerated, and transformation can be achieved in a few hundred years.

Sri Aurobindo deep dived in various traditional yoga practices, got the rare experiences in yoga like ‘state of Nirvana’ and the experience of ‘divine everywhere.’ He explored Vedas. Upanishads, Gita, and many ancient scriptures and rediscovered the transcendent truth which was discovered by Vedic rishis. His books, Secrets of Vedas, Essays on Gita, Isha Upanishad and Kena and other Upanishads provides detail understanding about hidden treasure in Vedas and Upanishads.

Integral Yoga is the True path of Spirituality for Evolution of mankind and the entire Manifestation.

Integral Yoga - Key Aspects

As Sri Aurobindo realized the Truth, he rejected the traditional yoga’s idea of striving for moksha and going away from life. He put forward the Integral yoga of transformation. He revealed that there is a possibility to open oneself to higher divine consciousness by opening one’s true self and remain in constant union with the divine, bringing down a higher force, light, power, and bliss to transform the mind, life, and body.

Integral yoga aims at evolution of terrestrial life through matter, life, and mind to realize divine life upon earth. He not only gave the path for achieving the transformation but also realized in his own life.

Sri Aurobindo’s great Epic, ‘Savitri-A Legend and a Symbol’ (1950) tells us about his own spiritual journey through different subtle and higher worlds and about the path and means of achieving the integral transformation.

He realized that the divine consciousness and divine life can be established by transforming human (mind) consciousness, by higher consciousness which he called - Supramental Consciousness.

Sri Aurobindo first gathered the essential spiritual experiences of Vedic rishis gained from different Vedantic paths of spiritual realization. He then went in search of a more complete experience of divine manifestation in the physical world.

Sri Aurobindo was dwelling in the Overmental world and experienced the presence of Supermind above it. He realized the need of this Truth consciousness for transformation.  Krishna consented and descend in his body On 24th November 1926, to take Sadhana to higher levels and establish the Supramental Consciousness on the Earth. As a result of his intense sadhana of about twenty-five years, Supramental descended in his body in 1950. However, it could not remain in earth’s atmosphere and went back as the Earth consciousness was not ready at that time for the transformation.

Sri Aurobindo realized that the decent of Supermind could be achieved only by transforming the unconscious. So, he withdrew from his body on 5th December 1950 and continued his work in subtle body to bring down and establish the supramental force upon Earth. With his efforts, Mother could get the Supramental force descended and established upon earth on 29th February 1956.
